Six Layers of Love
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY love of my life! These six layers of love are just for you:
A thick crust--because our relationship has friendship as its solid foundation
Pecans, because you are a nut and you make me laugh
Chocolate, because YOU are my ultimate comforter
Caramel-- because your kisses are so sweet
Coconut, because I'm sometimes a flake and you pick up the pieces!
Sweetened condensed milk is just like our love--it keeps everything together
Joseph, life is just so much fun with you! The two of us together
has been the perfect recipe for a sweet-as-can-be life :-)
What You Will Need:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/2 cup butter
2 cups chopped pecans
1 cup flaked coconut
1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
2 teaspoons vanilla
25 caramels (unwrapped)
2 tablespoons milk
1 cup chocolate chips
Putting The Six Layers Together:
Mix the flour with the brown sugar and cut in the butter with a pastry cutter until mixture is crumbly. Press into the bottom of a cake pan (9x13)--don't grease. Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from oven and sprinkle the pecans and coconut on top on the hot crust. Combine sweetened condensed milk and vanilla and pour over the pecans and coconut.--return to oven for 20-30 minutes (until the sweetened condensed milk looks hardened and light brown on top).
When filling looks hardened remove from the oven and let cool while you melt the caramels with the milk on medium-low heat in a small saucepan--stirring occasionally. Once the caramels are melted, pour them over the mixture and sprinkle the chocolate chips on top. Let cool and cut into bars...call the family around to enjoy but you better hide some for yourself because they go fast! In my family it's affectionately referred to as "yummy goo".

OMG These (six layers of love) looks incredible. And I love the explanation, "Pecans, because you are a nut and you make me laugh". Gotta share this...Thanks!
