Centerpiece "Patriotic S'more Pops"

Megan my daughter made these patriotic s'more pops for a 4th of July treat.
The pops are not your typical pops.  They are made out of gram crackers,
marshmallows and chocolate.
Whoever came up with this combination certainly hit upon a yummy treat.
The s'more pops are made like rice krispie treats, so easy.

S'more Pops

6 tbsp. butter
6 cups small marshmallows
3 cups crushed cups gram cracker crumbs
1 1/4 cup chocolate chips
2 tsp. shortening
White candy melt
Food Coloring

In a heavy saucepan melt butter and marshmallows.  Place gram cracker crumbs in a bowl and pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the crumbs.  Stir until well mixed.  Butter your hands and roll mixture into balls.  Place on wax paper.  Push skewers or chop sticks up through the balls.

Melt chocolate chips and shortening in a double boiler.  We prefer to use chop sticks.  Dip the gram cracker balls into the chocolate, gently shake excess chocolate off balls and place sticks in a bowl of rice or styrofoam until chocolate is set.

Melt candy melt  with 1 tsp. shortening (more if the candy melt is too thick).  Divide candy melt into three bowls  and stir in food coloring (red, white and blue) until well incorporated.  Place candy melt in squeeze bottles and decorate the s'more balls.  Let set.

Hot glue bows on the sticks for an added festive look.  If you use chop sticks you can wrap the sticks in ribbon.  See the picture below.
