One 9x13 pan of baked brownies cut into small squares
One 6 oz. package instant chocolate pudding
One 8 oz container  Cool Whip + 1 cup (if desired to garnish the top)
One package of mini Heath Bars (broken into small pieces--you can use a mallet to break up the candy bars).

Make the chocolate pudding according to package directions. Fold cool whip into the chocolate pudding.   In a large glass dessert bowl layer the brownies, pudding, Heath Bar. Repeat layers and top with
cool whip if desired. Garnish with small Heath Bars.

This looks amazing! When you say 1 package of heath bars are you using the bite sized ones or 1 big bar? Or are you using just the Heath Bits that you find with the chocolate chips...I'm curious. I want to make this Dec 1 for work, we take turns bringing for birthdays and this is what I want to make!

I use the small candy bar sized heath bars and crush them into smaller pieces. Save a few to garnish the top with. This is a very popular dessert and I am sure it will be a huge hit at your party.

I made this dessert for a party at work and it is sinfully delicious!! I am not going to even guessimate how many calories are in this dessert! I just know that I will have to workout extra hard!! Thanks for the recipe!

I make this, but keep the pudding & whipped topping separate to create yet another pretty layer. I also use the heath toffee chips & it turns out great with less work...everyone loves this!

I did make this and used the Heath Bits found in the baking isle. I think I would use 2 bags next time or try crushing my own, thought it could use more crunch but the whole thing was gone and everyone loved it anyways!

I like using the real candy bar and crushing my own because the pieces are bigger.

Your dessert looked yummy - i came across it on pinterest yesterday, and i made it for dessert today - only i didn't have all the right ingredients. First was brownies, i thought i had a mix in the pantry - nope - i would have made some from scratch but i had bread in the oven. i also do not have one of those beautiful dessert bowl so i decided to make individual ones. I used 1/2 pint canning jars, and i was able to use choc. chips in place of the heath for my son who wouldn't have tried them if he knew it had heath in it. I used crushed vanilla wafers in place of the brownies except for 2 of them which i experimented using coco puff cereal. I then layer lick you said. The next time i make them I'll just like like you did so i get to see how your version is. thank you for sharing your recipe

It looks AMAZING in that picture, but how do you suggest serving it? Without being able to slice it, it seems like it would be really messy (along with uneven brownie/pudding ratios)...

It's a trifle so you serve it with a big serving spoon. Whenever I make this dessert it never lasts long.

I use butterfingers and make it the night before so the flavors meld together...yummy!

I do a version of this with yellow cake and vanilla pudding, but I don't add anything for crunch. I also make banana pudding like this with the yellow cake mix or with Chessman cookies. I can't wait to try this version!!!!

Do you make this the night before or the day of? I'm making it to take to my husband's aunt's house tomorrow for lunch.

I'm going to a lunch tomorrow with family and am wondering do I make this the day before or will the brownies get mushy?

REPLY

You could go ahead and make the brownies and pudding the day before and then assemble the day of. It doesn't take very long to layer and I think it would be better made the same day. I have never had any left over to see if it is still good the next day.

My daughter made this the night before her event and it was just as sinfully delicious the next day.

This is wonderful! My family makes it every year on Christmas Eve with only a minor alteration... instead of folding pudding into the whipping cream, we use choc mousse instead of pudding and keep it separate from the whip cream as distinct layers. Very rich and so delicious!

This looks delicious! Do you use instant chocolate pudding?

REPLY

So sorry I didn't specify. Yes, I do use instant pudding.

I've been making this lately but using snickers (family isn't fond of Hearh). Also adding drizzles of hot fudge on top of the brownie layer and on the very too. YUM!! Thanks for the recipe

I have been making this recipe for years. It is a Tastefully Simple recipe from one of their little cookbooks. It is always a hit and one of my standbys and you can't miss with this dessert!
