Speed Racer Twinkies

I have a couple of grand kids that are into cars and anything with motors, wheels and keys.  So when I made these edible race cars, they were an immediate big hit!  They seem best when eaten in pieces like an Oreo cookie, a little at a time, and saving the best for last -- the Twinkie!

Making the Speed Racer Twinkies

You will need:

Eight Twinkies
Licorice  circles (or Oreo cookies)
Dot candies or  peanut M&M’s
2 cup powdered sugar
2-4 tbsp. milk
Red, orange, yellow, blue food coloring

In a bowl slowly add milk to the powdered sugar until you get a thin but not runny consistency.  Divide the  icing into four or more bowls (depending on how many colors you are using) and mix in the food coloring.  I like to  put the  icing in a plastic squeeze bottle to decorate the Twinkie cars.  (You can also use a cake decorating kit or a plastic bag with a small corner cut out.)  Put stripes and numbers on each car.  Attach the wheels and dot candy with the icing.  Speed away.

Homemade Graduation Gift Ideas "Snickers"

I have to admit I could not resist making up this homemade graduation gift idea, dedicated to my son's friends who goofed off in High School.  This graduation gift idea  is also great for someone who has a sense of humor. Putting this gift together is as easy as filling a creative container or bag with "Snickers" candy bars and cash and attaching the gift tag, label or money envelope.
They said you couldn't do it, "Look who's snickering now".

Cone Invitations

Cones have become very popular and there is good reason.  They are just so adorable.  We used these cones last year at my daughters wedding and they were a huge hit. We also used them as a fun invitation for a spring luncheon.  They are easy to make and they can brighten any occasion.

How To Make The Cones:

You will need 12"x12" scrap book paper.  Cut the paper into four equal squares.

Gently make a crease in one of the corners.

Starting at the creased corner roll the paper into a cone shape over lapping the paper at the top.

Hot glue the cone closed at the seam.

Punch two holes at the top of the cone.  Place candy in a plastic bag and tie the candy and invite tag to the cone through the two holes.
It's time to get everyone together and have a spring lunch.

Rocky Road Brownies

These brownies bring back childhood memories.  My sister-in-law made these brownies when I was growing up and they were such a treat.

Brownies:
1 cup butter
1/3 cup cocoa
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 1/2 cup flour
1/8 teas. salt
2 teas. vanilla
1 1/2 cup nuts, chopped  (I like to use pecans)
3/4 bag miniature marshmallows

Melt butter.  Add the cocoa and sugar and mix well.  Add the eggs, mix well.  Add flour, salt, vanilla and nuts.  Spread on a greased (use shortening) cookie sheet.  Bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees.  Remove from oven and immediately spread marshmallows over the top single layer.  Return brownies back to oven and back another 5 minutes or until marshmallows are puffed and melted.  Let cool.  Spread frosting on the top of the cooled brownies.

Frosting:

1/4 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup cocoa
1/3 cup milk
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 teas. vanilla
1/8 teas. salt

Combine butter, cocoa, and cream and mix together.  Add the powdered sugar, vanilla and salt.  Mix well and spread on top of the brownies.

Teacher Gifts "Queso"

Teacher Gift
is a fun quick gift to give.  In my family we are always trying to think of clever sayings that go along with food.  One day my daughter kept on saying "k so".  Example:  "K so" do you think we should go to the store"? Ding, a light went off and I thought there has got to be a tag that we can make up that goes along with that expression.  We were trying to think of teacher gift ideas at the time and so it was obvious that it had to be a teacher gift tag.
Such a simple easy gift to give.

Teacher Gifts "Pencil"

The yummy edible pencil.
This pencil is a pretzel wrapped in caramel and then dipped in candy melt.
These pencils were disappearing right before my eyes as my family thought they were more fun
to eat then to give to a teacher.
They make a fun gift and would also be a great party favor at a teacher appreciation dinner,
or a kids craft party.
This downloadable file comes with caramel recipe, fondant recipe, instructions,
and seven different color options of printable coordinating gift tags.
Download, print and make a teacher's day!

Card Table Playhouse Pattern "Car Wash"

My grand kids were so excited for this latest Card Table Playhouse.  It is an interactive playhouse that provides hours of fun.  The playhouse has  front and a back doors so it is fun for them to ride their cars through and then around again.  Along the way they can insert coins into the money slot, vacuum out their cars with a pretend vacuum, wash their cars with an attachable spray bottle and sponge, and then do it all over again.
