I have a couple of grand kids that are into cars and anything with motors, wheels and keys. So when I made these edible race cars, they were an immediate big hit! They seem best when eaten in pieces like an Oreo cookie, a little at a time, and saving the best for last -- the Twinkie!
Making the Speed Racer Twinkies
You will need:
Eight Twinkies
Licorice circles (or Oreo
cookies)
Dot candies or peanut M&M’s
2 cup powdered sugar
2-4 tbsp. milk
Red, orange, yellow, blue food coloring
In a bowl slowly add milk to the powdered sugar until you get a thin but
not runny consistency. Divide the icing into four or more bowls (depending on
how many colors you are using) and mix in the food coloring. I like to
put the icing in a plastic
squeeze bottle to decorate the Twinkie cars.
(You can also use a cake decorating kit or a plastic bag with a small
corner cut out.) Put stripes and numbers
on each car. Attach the wheels and dot
candy with the icing. Speed away.
I love comments! Please let me know what you think!
