Fireman saved our home

We want to thank firemen everywhere for their hard work, dedication and service.  A week ago we were evacuated from our comfortable home because of a massive fire that got uncomfortably close.  Firefighters from all over the country came to our neighborhood of Alpine Utah to fight this fire that burned over 2000 acres.  They worked hard and tirelessly and we could not be more grateful.
Because of  these brave men, no one was hurt and no one lost their home.
Thank you firemen everywhere.
We made posters and delivered them to our local fireman branch.  Little Sierra thought the candy bars were for her and had a hard time giving the poster over, but with a little bribery
we managed to pry her fingers away.

Diaper Baby Carriage

My daughter Ana is having a baby in a month and all of her sisters threw her a very cute baby shower.
Of course I still had to get in on the action and the shower was at my house.
I told my daughter Megan that I wanted her to create a diaper carriage.  Our theme was baby girls.
Diaper cakes are very popular right now and  I wanted something a little bit different.
Megan is amazing and made this adorable diaper baby carriage out of disposable diapers,
receiving blankets, bottles and baby wash cloth.
All usable items for the new mother-to-be.
Megan made huge snicker-doodle cookies for a party favor take home and we housed
them in the carriage. It was a fun centerpiece, gift and handout. The instructions on making this
diaper baby carriage can be downloaded  HERE.

Stack your baby carriage on top of your 4 wheels to make it complete. We filled our baby carriage with homemade party favors.  Insert your favorite cookie into a cellophane bag.  Fold the bag top over and tape in the back. Tape the tag to the front.

Centerpiece "Patriotic S'more Pops"

Megan my daughter made these patriotic s'more pops for a 4th of July treat.
The pops are not your typical pops.  They are made out of gram crackers,
marshmallows and chocolate.
Whoever came up with this combination certainly hit upon a yummy treat.
The s'more pops are made like rice krispie treats, so easy.

S'more Pops

6 tbsp. butter
6 cups small marshmallows
3 cups crushed cups gram cracker crumbs
1 1/4 cup chocolate chips
2 tsp. shortening
White candy melt
Food Coloring

In a heavy saucepan melt butter and marshmallows.  Place gram cracker crumbs in a bowl and pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the crumbs.  Stir until well mixed.  Butter your hands and roll mixture into balls.  Place on wax paper.  Push skewers or chop sticks up through the balls.

Melt chocolate chips and shortening in a double boiler.  We prefer to use chop sticks.  Dip the gram cracker balls into the chocolate, gently shake excess chocolate off balls and place sticks in a bowl of rice or styrofoam until chocolate is set.

Melt candy melt  with 1 tsp. shortening (more if the candy melt is too thick).  Divide candy melt into three bowls  and stir in food coloring (red, white and blue) until well incorporated.  Place candy melt in squeeze bottles and decorate the s'more balls.  Let set.

Hot glue bows on the sticks for an added festive look.  If you use chop sticks you can wrap the sticks in ribbon.  See the picture below.
