Decorative Pillow Pattern

Flowers and Ruffles Pillow Instructions

It's time to create a new look and decorate your room with these easy-to-make pillows. My daughter Megan has been busy with projects to make her apartment feel more like home and she came up with this pillow idea to complete her bedroom.
What you will Need:
PILLOW 1
     - One 14"x14" pillow form
     - Two fat quarter fabrics (cut a 14"x14" square out of each)
(Out of one of the fabrics, cut 3 strips 2.5"x21")
     - 1/6 yard sheer fabric (cut 3 strips 2"x44")
*if making all three pillows you will need 1/2 yard sheer fabric
     - Decorative button
PILLOW 2
     - One 16"x16" pillow form
     - Two fat quarter fabrics (cut a 16"x16" square out of each)
(Out of one of the fabrics, cut 3 strips 2.5"x21")
     - 1/6 yard sheer fabric (cut 3 strips 2"x44")
*if making all three pillows you will need 1/2 yard sheer fabric
     - Decorative button
PILLOW 3
     - One 18"x18" pillow form
     - Two fat quarter fabrics (cut a 18"x18" square out of each)
(Out of one of the fabrics, cut 3 strips 2.5"x21")
     - 1/6 yard sheer fabric (cut 3 strips 2"x44")
*if making all three pillows you will need 1/2 yard sheer fabric
     - Decorative button

Putting the Pillow together: (for all 3 pillows)
     *Seam Allowance 1/4"
1. Press long edge of cut strips 1/4" in and sew. Repeat for each strip.
2. Take finished strips and starting with the bottom ruffle, sew strip to contrasting fabric square, tucking as you go to create the ruffle.
3. Place next ruffle on the top edge of the last ruffle, tuck and sew top edge to fabric square.
4. Place last ruffle on top of the middle ruffle, tuck and sew top edge to fabric square.
5. Sew the two fabrics right sides together around 3 sides, leaving the bottom side open.
6. Turn pillow right side out.
7. To make flower, take a strip and make loops stitching in the center as you make each loop.  Continue with remaining two strips.  Sew a button in the center and sew onto the pillow top.
8.  Insert pillow form into the pillow and hand stitch across the bottom of the pillow folding in the rough edges.
