Cornbread SaraAnn's Kitchen

What you will need: 

1 package yellow cake mix

1 cup yellow corn meal

1 cup flour

3 tablespoons sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup soft shortening, butter or margarine

1 egg

1 cup milk

Making the cornbread:

Prepare cake mix according to directions. Save 2 cups for cornbread, use remainder for cupcakes. For cornbread, combine dry ingredients in bowl and mix well. Cut in shortening until well blended. Beat egg and milk together. Add dry ingredients and blend slightly. Add cake batter to cornbread mixture. Blend thoroughly. Pour mixture into greased 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 376 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
