Orange Rolls

1/2 cup warm water
3 tbsp. yeast
1 tbsp. sugar
1 egg (slightly beaten)
1 tbsp. salt
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup honey
2 3/4 cup water
1 cup instant dry milk
1 cup instant potatoes
7-8 cups flour
2 tsp. finely grated orange rind
6 tbsp. sugar
1 cup butter (2 squares)
In a mixing bowl with a dough hook sprinkle yeast over warm water and then sprinkle sugar over yeast. While mixing, add slightly beaten egg, salt, oil, honey, water, dry milk, instant potatoes and flour 1 cup at a time. Add flour just until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl. (Do not add too much flour or your rolls will be tough.) Mix dough for 8-10 minutes. Transfer dough to a well greased bowl, butter top of dough, cover and let rise until double in bulk in a warm place away from drafts.
Divide dough in half. Roll each half into a rectangle. Cream together 1/2 cup butter, 3 tbsps. sugar and 1 tsp. orange rind for each half. Spread each rectangle with the butter mixture. Starting at one end roll each rectangle into a jelly roll shape. (Like you would cinnamon rolls.) Cut dough into 1 inch slices using s string or a sharp knife. With each round slice, slightly pull and twist dough to form a twisted shape. Place rolls on a greased cookie sheet, cover and let rise until double in a warm place. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes or until lightly brown. Glaze immediately when the rolls come out of the oven.
Glaze:
3 cups powdered sugar
2 tbsp. melted butter
1-2 tsp. grated orange rind
4-6 tbsp. milk
Combine powdered sugar, melted butter, orange rind and enough milk to make a thin glaze.
You might want to hide these until dinner time!
These are perfect for a bridal shower!

Sweet Shop

In case there was any question on what this candy table has to offer we clearly labeled it with these fun wooden letters. We purchased unfinished wood letters, painted them the wedding colors, sanded them and then hung them above the candy table with fishing line to get the free floating affect. The bride plans on hanging the letters in her new kitchen. So much fun.

Candy Cones
The Candy Shop is OPEN! These candy cones are a big hit at any party or get together. We made these candy cones for the candy table at my daughter's wedding reception and everyone loved it. Throw a movie night, game night or any party and let everyone fill their candy cones with their favorite candies or popcorn. Fun, colorful and sure to go fast.
Making the Cones and what you will need:
12"x12" piece of scrap book paper (one sheet will make four)
Double sided tape
Candy, candy and candy
Cut the scrapbook paper into fourths. You now have four squares that measure 6"x6". Put tape along one outside edge. Take two opposite corners and roll the paper into a cone shape. Press paper together along the tape side. Attach a fun sticker at the top edge of the cone. Download, Print, Party!

Ana's Wedding Hutch

Aren't 2nd hand stores great!!! We found this hutch (it's actually the corner of an entertainment center), but it's unique shape makes for a fun china hutch. We found this lonely piece sitting in a back room of a Deseret Industries Store (2nd hand store). This heavy oak piece was crying for us to take it home and so we did. We just had to do a little face lift to the hutch. (Well maybe it was a big face lift!) I didn't take a picture of the before, but the picture above is the after.
Antiquing the Hutch:
1. Sand your piece of furniture until all varnish is removed. (You want the paint to stick.)
2. Paint your furniture with a good quality laytex satin paint. On this hutch we painted the outside a turquoise blue and the inside of the hutch yellow. Let completely dry.
3. Sand all edges and corners until the wood is showing through.
4. Stain the whole piece with Early American Wood Stain. Put the stain on with either a sponge brush or a cotton rag. Be generous with the stain in the corners and on the surface. You don't need to worry about putting the stain on evenly. After you have applied the stain wipe off the stain with another clean cotton rag. Work on one area at a time. For example: apply the stain on the door, wipe the stain off and then move to another area.
5. Let the stain dry.
6. We are still debating on whether we want to put chicken wire over the doors? What's your vote?
The smile on this new bride's face was priceless. She loved her gift.

S'more Brownies

Putting the Goodness Together:
1 cup butter, room temperature
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 2/3 flour
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
4 King-size chocolate bars (or enough chocolate bars to cover a 13x9 inch pan)
1 package minature marshmellows
Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking powder and salt. Add to butter mixture and mix until combined.
Grease a 13x9 inch pan. Divide the dough in half and press half of the dough into an even layer on the bottom of the pan. Place chocolate bars over the dough in a single layer. Break chocolate to fit if necessary. Layer minature marshmellows in a single layer over the chocolate. Spread remaining dough on top of the marshmellows.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool completely and cut into bars.
